Christmas Week Part 1

Wow!  What a week filled with lots of ministering.  The Christmas trip is one of my favorites because it focuses on the families of our school.   We were blessed to have 36 North Americans join us last week.   They were from Alabama, South Carolina, North Carolina, Maryland, and Mississippi.  There were 16 churches represented!   I am going to post several blogs to highlight each event from the past week.

Christmas Programs & Dinners

Each night we fed the families of our children salad, lasagna, green beans, corn, and dessert.   The children presented a program telling the Christmas story through song, drama, and verses.   The message of the gospel was clearly presented.   The children did an excellent job and the parents were very proud!   The night ended with the children singing “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” and every child receiving a gift.  The families received huge food baskets filled with all types of goodies.  The North Americans wrapped a ton of presents and filled 120 food baskets.   They served lasagna to 800 people in 4 nights!

Christmas Lunch for the Widows

On Saturday some of the team hosted a lunch for 48 widows.  They served a traditional Guatemalan meal of estofado.   Pastor Roy delivered an encouraging message to the widows.  The widows received a special basket filled with a blanket, jewelry, and food.   One of the widows expressed her gratitude stating how the widows are overlooked among churches.  They have such a sweet spirit.
