Rebekah’s Blog

Many of you know Rebekah Rankin is serving at the feeding center for 9 weeks.  She graciously agreed to share some of her thoughts with you.

I think I fall more in love with this country every single time I come down here, and this time, it’s every single time I wake up. Waking up and seeing the sun shining through my window and the birds chirping as loud as they can always helps my day get started a little easier. My favorite part about waking up every morning, is knowing that in a few hours there will be around sixty kids hopping off the bus, running up and hugging me and the other teachers before we get started. Just being a part of these kid’s lives everyday is a blessing to me because of the love that they show me. No matter what we are doing throughout the day I can count on them to put a smile on my face everyday. While I have been down here God has given me some amazing role models, that have been showing me that every single aspect of my life should point back to Him. When you accept Christ your relationship is not only an inward transformation, but it is a change that is meant to have an outward transformation on the world around you. Which is so so true. We can go about our days trying to put our faith in our significant others, in our family, or even in our jobs, but in reality the ONLY thing we can rely 100% on is putting our faith in Jesus Christ. When we put our faith in God, we are stable, because He is stable. Why would we even think to put our faith into something that isn’t as stable as a God who is with us every single minute of the day? God has shown me that He is still a stable God even when I am 1200 miles away from home with a people who speak a completely different language than me. This summer I pray that God will reveal His will and purpose for me specifically. I know God has an amazing summer laid out for me, and I am only just at the start of it, but I am praying for God to show up and show out this summer in my life and the lives of every person I come in contact with. I don’t want to be just another person who comes down here for a short period of time and then leaves, I want to be someone who makes an impact in every single person’s life that I come in contact with. I am excited for the days that I have had here, but I cannot wait to see what else God has in store for me for the rest of the summer. I ask that as I am on this journey that you would pray alongside of me for the people, the places, and the things that will be done while I am down here for the coming weeks.
