Glittery Shoes!

When your only means for transportation is walking then your shoes definitely become worn.  For sweet Delia, her shoes are not a fashion statement but a necessity of life.  Several months ago, her school shoes were falling apart and hot glue did not do the trick.    That particular day we were able to find her a pair of tennis shoes from Sydney’s closet, and we delivered new school shoes to her several hours later.

Delia’s dad works hard in the fields and her mom has many health problems.  I often see them walking as a family going to the fields to work.

This week, I noticed the soles on those tennis shoes were falling apart.  She had managed to make holes in the toes within only a few months.  They were basically new when she received them so she has definitely worn them!

Yesterday, we took off her tennis shoes and placed pink, glittery shoes on her feet.  They are “air cushion” for walking!  She grinned from ear to ear as she insisted on wearing them immediately.  Pink glitter will make any 9 year old girl smile!

Why do I share this with you?  If you have ever supported SLAM or GRACE then you indirectly placed pink, glittery shoes on sweet Delia.  You make it possible for us to provide necessities for the children.  You helped a little girl walk home with a smile on her face and a bounce in her step!  Thank You!
