Fiesta!

Several weeks ago, it was brought to my attention that some of the kids may not understand why the “Americans” come to love on them and then leave.  Many of the children deal with insecurities which develop as a part of abandonment from their personal family members.  We have talked to the kids about Tess returning to the states, and we decided to make it a celebration.  Tess strongly dislikes cheap balloons and recorders–So we had both! After yesterday’s celebration, the kids can’t wait to say good-bye to the next volunteer!

Thank you Tess for not allowing all of the “What Ifs” to keep you from experiencing the abundant life found through fully trusting Christ.  There are 110 precious Guatemalan children who are thankful for the impact of you have made on their lives.

I am currently in the Guatemala Airport waiting for my flight to the United States.  This past 2.5 months has been such a gift!  Thank you so much to my fearless leaders who planned a wild surprise going away party for me with the kids and staff from the feeding center yesterday!  It did not disappoint with endless amounts of cotton candy and popcorn which the kids ate in amounts that would make any grown adult sick! The day was packed with dancing, pearlier beads, nail polish, soccer and other arts and crafts.  But the real highlight was when three of my students serenaded me on recorders to none other than the tune from Titanic, “My Heart Will Go On.”  Any Celine Dion song played on recorders by elementary aged boys will steal the show at a party.  The laughter and joy it brought us all was good for our souls!  It was truly adorable!   Life on the mission field can be so hard with so many goodbyes, but thank you so much to Soy and Deidra for easing the pain of my heart and helping to make my going away a joyful event for the kiddos and myself.  It has been an absolute joy serving alongside side you both, and I pray God uses you to reach the nation of Guatemala in greater ways than you could ever dream or imagine!!! And thank you for all your love and care and for allowing me to be apart of your family… I love you all so very much!!!
