We were able to spend yesterday traveling to El Garabato with Pastor Keith Martin from Kennedy Baptist Church. Two different groups built houses in the community and Bro. Keith realized there is basically no church and no school in the village. There is a group from a local town that evangelizes and ministers to the people on a monthly basis. Bro. Keith’s church is praying for ways they can partner with the group to minister in more effective ways.
The village has extreme poverty, but the kids immediately noticed “gringos”. The boys even asked for specific gringos they met from the summer trips. The meeting with the leaders from the evangelism group answered a lot of questions and Bro. Keith was satisfied with the direction of the conversations. Tico Vargas was a huge help in arranging the meetings and translating.
