Three years of questions.
Three years of learning to walk through things I never imagined I would walk through.
Three years of moments when I have been absolutely terrified of the future. Three years when I have seen the goodness of God so clearly that all I could do was stand in awe. Three years of learning that faith isn’t always knowing what comes next, but knowing that He is walking with me.
When I am terrified of the future…
I am reminded that He already knows the future.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5–6
When my heart aches for my daughters…
I am reminded that He is a Father to the fatherless.
“A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His holy dwelling.”— Psalm 68:5
When I worry about provision…
I am reminded that He always provides.
“Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” — Matthew 6:26
When I don’t have the words to pray…
I am reminded that the Holy Spirit intercedes for me.
“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.”— Romans 8:26
When the nights are long…
I am reminded that Joy comes in the morning.
“Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.”— Psalm 30:5
When I see glimpses of beauty in my story…
I am reminded that He turns ashes into beauty.
“To give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning…”— Isaiah 61:3
When I lose my focus…
I am reminded that this world is not all there is.
“While we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.”— 2 Corinthians 4:18
When I have doubts…
I am reminded that I don’t have to understand everything to trust Him.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding…”— Proverbs 3:5
When I don’t understand why there was not earthly healing…
I am reminded that He is the ultimate Healer
“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.”– Isaiah 53:5
When I question how good can possibly come from such evil…
I am reminded that He has the Victory.
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”
When I am exhausted…
I am reminded that my strength is in the Lord
“But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength” Isaiah 40:31
When people encourage me…
I am reminded that God uses people to hold up our arms.
“When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset.”–Exodus 17:12
When I seek direction in my life…
I am reminded of His calling on my life
“being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” –Philippians 1:6
When I grieve the loss in our lives…
I am reminded of the hope we have in Jesus Christ
“so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.” 1 Thessalonians 4:13
Three years later–I am constantly reminded of Lord’s Sovereignty. His Goodness. His Faithfulness.
“So I throw up my hands And praise You again and again
‘Cause all that I have is a hallelujah
And I know it’s not much
But I’ve nothing else fit for a King
Except for a heart singing hallelujah”
