Seconds Please!

Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! To every person who participated in the cake auction at Friendship Baptist, we are grateful. To those who were able to join the cake auction through a Zoom conference all, we are grateful. To those who gave generous offerings to the cake auction, we are grateful.

The prices of food continue to increase in Guatemala. The students have monthly sponsors to help with the cost of feeding a child daily breakfast and lunch. We choose to only allow one child per sponsor and to keep the cost of sponsorship at a minimum cost. The Lord has been good to us as He has shown us His faithfulness over the past 2 years.

A couple of weeks ago, I watched our teenage boys eat lunch. Teenage boys can eat! A lot! After watching them eat, I talked to Evelyn about the need to increase the serving for some of the students or serve them seconds (certain children always return for seconds if there are leftovers). However, I knew that I didn’t have a lot of wiggle room for the budget.

Yesterday morning I walked into the kitchen and told Evelyn to cook more hamburgers for the teenagers or any child who may want seconds. The money from the cake auction gives me the liberty to make sure these growing teenagers eat seconds!

God always provides!

Last week, I bought food for a mother who is going through some difficult times. The bags have stayed in my car all week. This morning I gave the bags of food to the sweet lady. Later she explained how her family is having to completely trust in the Lord to provide on a daily basis. She said her children had food for the next 2 or 3 days, but they were unsure what would happen after the food is gone. She was reminded of the Lord’s faithfulness as I handed her all of the groceries.

It is very difficult to think about a child going to bed hungry. It is very difficult to think about a mother having to watch her children go to bed hungry.

Thank you to each person who chooses to make a difference!

We pray God blesses you tenfold!
