“God’s revelation does not need the light of human genius, the polish and strength of human culture, the brilliancy of human thought, the force of human brains to adorn or enforce it; but it does demand the simplicity, the docility, humility, and faith of a child’s heart.”

Thankfully, we have been able to do a lot of ministering without leaving GRACE mountain this week! Soy posted videos of the kids enjoying the pizza, cupcakes, and egg hunt on the blog and social media. However, the kids were also taught about the resurrection of Jesus Christ. They were told about the free gift of salvation found only through a relationship with Christ. The egg hunt is always fun, but our first priority is Jesus.
This morning 19 hungry construction men came to the mission house for breakfast. They enjoyed biscuits and gravy, pancakes, western omelette casserole, hash brown casserole, grits, fruit, and strawberry cake. It was a bit more on the southern side, but they did not mind.
After they finished eating, Delmar, the contractor, spent about 25 minutes talking to the men about the sacrifice Jesus made so they can have eternal life. Delmar did an excellent job presenting a clear presentation of the Gospel.
They were about to leave when Soy plugged in the inflatable jump house. All of the men acted like kids as they jumped in the jump house. It was hilarious. They work extremely hard so it was good to watch them have fun.
Are all of the construction men Christians? No! Delmar said they do not fully understand why we show kindness to them. For example, within the last several weeks a couple of teams have delivered lunch to their work site. Without any prompting–just showing kindness. When they are completely finished with the school, we want the men to be able to say “There was something different about this construction job. They were a reflection of Jesus.” Our prayer is some of the men will come to know Christ as a result of the job. Pray for Delmar and Mario as they are in charge of the projects. They are both strong Christians, and they desire to see men come to know Jesus.
In Guatemala, the entire country celebrates Easter the week before Resurrection Day. The feeding center will be closed Thursday through Saturday. This is fine with us except the children will miss several meals from the center. For many of the children the food from the center is extremely important. Last week someone gave money to be used to minister to the children. Today we are delivering “weekend” bags to 12 of the children. The peanut butter, jelly, rice, spaghetti sauce, spaghetti noodles, tuna, and bread will be sufficient for the next several days.
If you support SLAM or GRACE then you have been a part of ministering to these people. You have been a part of sharing the salvation through Jesus Christ to 142 people on the mountain. We are able to do the work, but you make it possible. I am not quite sure if we can ever truly express how grateful we are for you. Thank you for being obedient– Thank you for giving–Thank you for serving the least of these.
