On Monday and Thursday, we were blessed to have a team of 22 college students work at the feeding center. They all attend Texas A & M and chose to spend their Spring Break serving in Guatemala. On Monday, I observed the team serve lunch, do a Bible craft, perform skits, sing songs, and play with the kids. I was so impressed with the interaction of the kids. Some of the students were bilingual and some were not, but the language did not keep them from loving on the children. They played soccer, played chase, gave piggy back rides, pushed children on the swings, played basketball, painted faces, painted fingernails. We are looking forward to working with them again in the future.
On Thursday, we even tested our new cotton candy machine with the group. The students were allowed to eat only two bags of cotton candy to prevent them from getting sick. We marked their hands with a marker to keep track of how many bags they had eaten. Of course some of the boys tried really hard to wipe the marker off and stand in line for a third bag of cotton candy. Kids will be kids!
What are the kids learning at the feeding center during the month of March? Academically, we are evaluating and focusing of Math during the month of March and April. The kids are also learning about the miracles of Jesus and the events leading up to the resurrection. Our primary goal is to share with them the love and salvation through Christ. Will you join us in praying for the children to have an understanding of the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ?
