At supper last night one of my daughters said, “We are eating expired tortillas!” My response, “Expiration dates are only suggestions!” Around our house it is the norm to not pay attention to expiration dates on food. I tell my girls that expiration dates are only suggestions. My girls will grow up knowing how to look and smell food to determine if it can be eaten—Expiration dates are only suggestions, right?
And yet so many people think the commandments in the Bible are only suggestions.
When Jesus said:
“Go into the world…”. Only a suggestion, right?
“Do unto the least of these….” Only a suggestion, right?
“Take up your cross…” Only a suggestion, right?
We strongly believe in teaching our youth to not view the Bible as suggestions but to match action with their faith.
We believe in mission trips. We believe in serving others. We believe this starts in our community.
This past Sunday, our 11th and 12th grade students participated in a mission trip! They stayed at the Grace Mission House, ate too much food, played games, built houses, led house dedications, and organized VBS.
Guatemalans Helping Guatemalans!
Our students spent two days serving and loving our neighbors.
Building houses is a good thing but our prayer remains the same for each of us:
God, change our hearts. Let us see people the way Jesus sees them. May we be a reflection of Jesus. We desire to be a light in a dark world. May we be the reason someone chooses Jesus.
Pray for our students. Pray each one of them will accept Jesus. Pray they will be men and women of faith. Pray they will change generations.
If you bought a bag of coffee—Thank You! You were part of providing a house for six families also!

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8
