How Can We Pray for You?

I have received so many messages from people telling me about how they are interceding on our behalf.   It is very encouraging.  People are continuing to lift us up in prayer and we know the Lord is giving us the strength moment by moment.   As we are packing our bags to return to Guatemala, we are asking people to pray specifically for us.  In many ways, returning to Guatemala will cause us to go backwards in the grieving process.   We recognize this and we are declaring specific promises from God.

Here are specific ways you can pray for our family and ministry:

For Our Daughters:

—Pray for God to give them an indescribable peace during the most difficult days.

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”  Philippians 4:7

—Pray they will not be afraid.

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”  Isaiah 41:10

—Pray for the Lord to comfort them.

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”  Psalm 34:18

—Pray they will trust in the Lord .

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.”   Proverbs 3:5

—Pray for God to use them to live a life which changes eternity.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”  Jeremiah 29:11

For the Guatemalans:

—Pray for salvation.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.”  John 3:16-18

—Pray for the softening of hearts.

I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.”  Ezekiel 36:26

—Pray for lives to be transformed.

But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate[a] the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”   2 Corinthians 3:16-18

For Our Family:

—Pray for us to cling to Truth.

“Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.”  Psalm 30:5

“They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.”  Psalm 126:5

“But rejoice in as much as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.”  1 Peter 4:13

“I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”  Philippians 3:10

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”  Romans 8:28

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9
