Our teachers and students are counting down the days until our “School Break” from May 29th-June 2nd! This week is busy with our final exams to finish second quarter!
However, we always worry about many of our students having enough food while there is no school. Our school menu provides the majority of calories and nutrients needed for the daily amount.
Last July, the cake auction raised enough money for us to give more than 1500 food bags to our students. We have been blessed to have a room filled with “emergency” bags for the children who need extra help. Up to this point, I did not have to worry about the finances for the food bags. Thank you to each person who bought a very expensive cake! The overpriced cake fed a ton of children! More than once, we have listened to mothers express their gratitude because the food bags were the only food she had to feed her family.
How much does a food bag cost? The average for a food bag cost $20 per bag.
