It’s early in the morning and there is silence on the mountain! In fact the past several days have been a lot quieter. This is very unusual but it is a welcome sound after a busy summer. We are finished with our “Summer Rush”! We will welcome several more teams throughout the year but at a slower pace.
Although I have been silent on the blog, it has not been silent in our ministry. It seems like we anticipated the summer months for so long and they were gone in only a blink. I honestly can’t remember every single ministry that took place throughout the past several months. Here is what I do know: a lot of houses built, a lot of food bags given to families, a lot of meals served, a lot of people heard about the salvation through Jesus, a lot of hugs given to children, and a lot of laughter.
Occasionally, I will listen to groups share about the week they have experienced in Guatemala. The one common thread seems to be “we feel like family”. There is something about serving in Guatemala with people from all walks of life and forming a bond that will last for years. This is true for our family also. My girls and I feel an unbelievale love and gratitude toward so many of the people who serve in Guatemala. So many of you have simply been there for us. So many of you have hugged my girls, given them gifts to make them feel special, and let them know of your love for them. This makes my mama heart so happy.
So what is happening on the mountain if the teams are not there every day? School, Church, Medical Clinic, Dental Clinic, Youth Work Program, English Academy, Construction….that’s all! And soccer—lots and lots of soccer!
