Yesterday, we celebrated Mother’s Day in Guatemala!!! We are so grateful for all of our teachers who nurture, hug, love, counsel, smile, and invest in every child. Our teachers are positive examples to each student. Just like a mother, they play such an important role in every life. There are so many similarities between a mother and a teacher—multi-tasking, paying attention to details, problem solving, having a listening ear, laughing with each other, choosing to find joy in the simple things, praying fervently for your child—every single day! They take teenage boys to get hair cuts, they buy new shoes, they fix the hair of little girls (this is usually my child), they put food into book bags, and they wipe away tears. They amaze me as they are a “mother” to so many of our children. Personally, I am grateful because my daughters truly love every one of them. I have laughed at these pictures as most of the students are taller than the teachers!
