A Week with Danville!

The past 2 weeks have been a whirlwind of ministering! There have been 70 people serve in Guatemala, while three of them were Eddie, Teddie, and Freddie! Why no blog entries or updates? Eddie, Teddie, and Freddie!

Last week, we loved hosting the team from Danville Baptist Church. They have been so faithful in supporting Grace and SLAM for many years. I am going to try to highlight a few areas of serving. (Honestly, I can’t remember everything. Have you ever worked with Eddie Turrentine? Grass does not grow under his feet.)

The team built and concreted 15 houses in two days!

They had two days of medical and dental in the new Grace medical clinic. Nothing thrilled me more than to see Dr. Rich Strabbing serve people in the medical clinic that he has prayed for so long. Dr. Hannah Garnett, a dermatologist, was very popular among the people. Sydney, Carolyn, and Shadya stayed busy serving as nurses. Dr. Ashley Holladay saw a million and one patients for restorative dental work.

My absolute favorite part was the time with the students! Some of the children went to Pollo Campero and on a toy shopping spree. Some of the older students enjoyed extra time with basketball, soccer, and volleyball. There were lots of hugs, high fives, and smiles all week.

We passed out live chickens and vegetables to some of the families. It was our first time to ever have a food distribution with live chickens! The team had food distributions for 300 other families. The team served lunch at the Chimaltenango dump also.

Pastor Spencer Bell preached at three different churches.

The team encouraged and loved on our teachers. Teaching at our school can be very difficult as it involves so much more than teaching in a classroom. The team hosted a meal, soccer, and basketball game for the teachers and their families. The team treated them to a nice meal in Antigua. The doctors and dentist stayed extra time to serve the teachers at the clinic. The team continues to pray, love, and build relationships with so many of our workers.

We are very excited about the new playground for the elementary students. The team started building it on Wednesday and Noah will complete it this week.

House building, food distributions, basketball/volleyball/soccer games, building a playground, medical clinic, dental clinic, field trip to Pollo Campero and Dollar City, preaching in churches, hosting families for dinners…I am certain that I am forgetting something!

Thank you Danville Baptist Church for investing in Grace Ministries. Thank you for supporting, encouraging, and praying for us. Thank you for investing in eternity! Thank you for changing lives!
